Veeam Backup

What is the 3-2-1 backup rule?

The 3-2-1 backup rule states that organizations should make three copies of their data on two different media types, with one stored offsite.

Seeding a Backup Job

You can seed your initial backup job with CL8 to reduce the time and bandwidth required. If you want to seed a backup job you will need to open a ticket through CL8 customer portal where further instructions will be provided.

Is WAN Acceleration enabled?

The WAN acceleration feature is enabled but is not supported if you are using Veeam Backup Replication Standard Edition.

Is the data encrypted? Does CL8 have access to the data?

You have the ability to enable encryption on not just the transfer but you can encrypt the backup prior to traversing the SSL connection so it is stored encrypted at rest. CL8 does not have access to the data.

Is the data compressed before backup to CL8 Veeam Cloud Connect repository?

Veeam can de-duplicate data before sending it offsite to the repository. However, de-duplicated ratios will depend on the type to data being backed up.
